A historical insight...
QUEEN MELISENDE
She reigned in Jerusalem during the twelfth century, at a time when women were rarely regents. Her mother was Armenian. Her father, a crusader. She launched substantial works in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, which is believed the birthplace of Jesus.
Her achievements, both personal and political, are remarkable, and can be read about in Queens of Jerusalem, an insightful and much recommended read.
